Overview
Workforce Staffing is looking for an experienced Machine Operator to run the AMADA HDS1303 semi automatic press brake in Durban. If you have hands on press brake experience and take pride in accurate sheet metal work, this fixed term full time role could be a great fit. You will work with engineering drawings, set up tooling, bend and form metal to tight tolerances, and keep quality and safety on track in a busy production environment.
About the role
As a Machine Operator for the AMADA HDS1303 semi automatic press brake, you will be at the heart of the sheet metal production process in Durban. You will set up and run the press brake safely, select and adjust tooling, and make sure every bend meets the required dimensions, angles and tolerances. You will read engineering drawings and job cards, position and align sheet metal, and carry out first off and in process quality checks using measuring equipment.
You will also play a key role in spotting defects, tooling issues or machine problems and reporting them quickly, while keeping your work area clean, safe and organised. This is a hands on fixed term full time role with Workforce Staffing, working on site in Durban.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating a press brake, preferably the AMADA HDS1303
- Good understanding of sheet metal bending and forming
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Experience with press brake tooling and machine setup
- Good measuring and quality control skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work accurately to production targets and specifications
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate the AMADA HDS1303 press brake safely and efficiently
- Select, install and adjust punches, dies and other tooling
- Set machine parameters, back gauges, bend sequences and angles
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, job cards and work instructions
- Position and align sheet metal accurately for bending and forming
- Bend and form sheet metal to specified dimensions, angles and tolerances
- Consider material thickness, bend allowance, spring back and tooling requirements
- Use measuring equipment to check dimensions and angles
- Conduct first off and in process quality inspections
- Identify and report defects, tooling issues and machine abnormalities
- Safely handle, load, support and remove sheet metal components
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area
