About the role
SoluGrowth is hiring a Life & Pensions Insurance Accountant to ensure accurate accounting entries and smooth data flow from policy administration systems into the General Ledger. You will maintain accounting rules, perform reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and support month end reporting. This is a contract role based in Gauteng, ideal for a finance professional with life and pensions insurance experience.
Key duties include:
- Managing financial data flow from policy admin systems to the GL
- Maintaining accounting rules, posting configurations and GL mappings
- Performing reconciliations across policy, premium, claims, commission, cash and fund transactions
- Investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies
- Supporting month end reporting and financial close
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
- Working with Finance, IT and Operations teams to resolve system issues
- Maintaining accounting documentation and reconciliation reports
Senior Leads also:
- Lead and guide accounting teams
- Review complex reconciliations
- Oversee finance change initiatives
- Manage stakeholder relationships

Requirements
- Qualified accountant (CA(SA), ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by experience
- Life and pensions insurance experience
- Experience with TCS BaNCS or Bravura Sonata highly preferred; other life policy admin systems considered
- Clear understanding of policy, premium, claims, commission and fund transaction flows into GL
- Oracle GL experience
- Strong reconciliation skills across policy, cash and unit/fund data
- Finance change experience
- Nice to have: accounting hubs or sub ledgers, data platforms and SQL, unit linked or with profits accounting
Responsibilities
- Manage the flow of financial data from policy administration systems into the General Ledger
- Maintain accounting rules, posting configurations and GL account mappings
- Perform reconciliations across policy, premium, claims, commission, cash and fund transactions
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies by identifying root causes
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and accounting entries
- Support month end reporting and financial close processes
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls and reconciliations
- Support finance system changes, implementations, testing and process improvements
- Work closely with Finance, IT and Operations teams to resolve accounting and system related issues
- Maintain accounting documentation, process flows and reconciliation reports
- For Senior Leads: lead and provide technical guidance to accounting teams, review complex reconciliations, oversee finance change initiatives, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure timely delivery of project objectives
