Our client in the pharmaceutical industry is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to provide legal support and advice across its business operations. The role focuses on ensuring legal compliance, managing contractual matters, supporting dispute resolution, and providing practical legal guidance to business stakeholders.
Key Duties:
- Provide strategic legal support and advice to stakeholders across business operations.
- Advise on contractual, regulatory, compliance, and legal matters.
- Manage disputes and litigation matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and legal agreements.
- Ensure contractual agreements align with business requirements and legislation.
- Maintain accurate legal records and documentation.
Requirements
- LLB Degree or Degree in Law recognised in South Africa, or equivalent qualification.
- 5 to 8 years post-articles legal experience or equivalent.
- Corporate and Commercial Law experience is a prerequisite.
- Strong negotiation and persuasive skills.
- Experience handling legal disputes and litigation-related matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic legal support and advice to stakeholders across business operations, including finance, commercial, marketing, and business development.
- Advise on contractual, regulatory, compliance, and legal matters to support business objectives and mitigate legal risks.
- Manage disputes and litigation matters, providing guidance on effective resolution before escalation.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts and legal agreements across various business functions.
- Ensure contractual agreements align with business requirements, applicable legislation, and regulatory obligations.
- Review and update existing agreements to ensure continued legal compliance.
- Maintain accurate legal records and documentation, including filing and management of legal agreements.
- Support the maintenance of a centralised legal document repository.
