About the role
Prosperitas Personnel is looking for a technically skilled Junior Millwright to join a team in Ekurhuleni (East Rand). You will support the maintenance, fault-finding, repair and installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, with a strong focus on automated conveyor systems, rollers and industrial power systems.
The day to day work includes performing preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing faults on conveyor drives and motors, assisting with electrical drives and motor controls, and helping with planned maintenance to reduce downtime. You will work closely with production and maintenance teams to keep the plant running reliably and safely.
Requirements
- Relevant Millwright qualification, apprenticeship, or recognised mechanical/electrical technical training
- Practical experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or production environment
- Strong hands-on experience with automated conveyor systems, rollers, and industrial power systems
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of mechanical and electrical fault-finding
- Familiarity with electric motors, gearboxes, bearings, drive systems, and conveyor components
- Understanding of preventative maintenance and breakdown maintenance procedures
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals
- Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to production-related breakdowns
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to maintenance procedures
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative and corrective maintenance on automated conveyor systems and roller mechanisms
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on conveyor drives, motors, gearboxes, rollers, bearings, belts, and associated components
- Assist with maintaining industrial power systems, electrical drives, and motor control equipment within the scope of training and authorisation
- Identify mechanical and electrical faults and implement effective corrective actions under appropriate supervision
- Conduct equipment inspections to identify wear, damage, misalignment, and potential breakdown risks
- Support planned maintenance activities to reduce unplanned downtime and improve equipment reliability
- Assist with replacing and aligning conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, couplings, and other mechanical components
- Follow maintenance schedules, technical procedures, and equipment manufacturer specifications
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe working practices
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and report equipment faults to the maintenance supervisor
- Work closely with production and maintenance teams to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations
