Overview

Standard Bank is looking for a Junior HR Business Partner to join their Personal and Private Banking team in Johannesburg. This is a great opportunity for someone with 3 to 4 years of HR experience who wants to grow into a partnering role at one of Africa's biggest banks. You will support managers and employees with people related queries, use data to solve problems, and help drive HR projects that make a real difference.

About the role

As a Junior Business Partner in People and Culture at Standard Bank, you will be the go to person for managers and employees in your allocated portfolio. Your day to day work will involve understanding what stakeholders need and then using the right HR tools and processes to help them.

You will act as a people champion by supporting the overall employee experience. This means helping to resolve standard queries, analysing data to spot trends and problems, and making sure HR projects and initiatives are rolled out properly.

You will also work closely with line managers to make sure job design processes are followed correctly, help employees with HR system queries, and keep organisational structures up to date. Using data to create insights and inform decisions will be a key part of your role.

How to apply: Use the official Standard Bank application link provided to submit your application through their system.

  • Technical competencies in decision making, digital advocacy, inclusive facilitation, integrative leadership, organisational navigation, and storytelling

Responsibilities

  • Provide business partnering advisory services and support to business stakeholders by understanding their requirements and analysing appropriate toolkits

Success Guide

This Junior Business Partner role at Standard Bank is a fantastic stepping stone if you have a few years of HR experience and want to move into a proper partnering position at a major bank. When you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows your experience working with managers and employees, not just administrative HR tasks. Highlight any examples where you used data to solve a people problem or improve a process.

In the interview, be ready to talk about how you build relationships with different stakeholders and how you handle complex queries. They will likely ask about your understanding of the HR value chain and how you have supported business goals through people initiatives. Show that you are proactive and comfortable working with data. Also, be prepared to discuss how you stay organised when managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Good luck!
