Stratogo is hiring an International Product Growth Specialist to help a global consumer tech client grow across South Africa. You will use your deep understanding of local market dynamics to spot product gaps, drive growth opportunities, and ensure the client family of apps works well for South African users. This temporary, full time role based in Johannesburg Northern Suburbs is perfect for a data savvy product professional with 7 or more years of consumer tech experience who wants to make a real impact.
About the role
As an International Product Growth Specialist, you will be the local expert for a global consumer technology company in South Africa. Your role is to make sure the clients products are relevant, functional and successful in this market.
You will work closely with product, analytics and local teams to identify what is working, what is not, and where the biggest growth opportunities lie. This is a hands on role for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, testing ideas and working in a fast paced environment.
- Provide local insights on market strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats
- Identify and drive strategic growth opportunities for the South African market
- Work with analytics teams to validate findings using data
- Test and optimise important user journeys across the clients apps
- Collaborate with product teams on launch plans and feature changes

Requirements
- 7 or more years of experience in consumer tech product management or a related field
- Deep understanding of the South African market and consumer behaviour across geo political zones
- Experience with social products, technologies and platforms is strongly desired
- Self driven and comfortable in a fast paced, always on, highly ambiguous environment
- Creative, resourceful, detail oriented, highly organised and hands on
- Strong problem solving and storytelling skills
- Experience working in start ups or successful entrepreneurial ventures is highly desired
- Analytical skills with experience in SQL and data analytics work is highly desired
- Familiarity with the socio economic and political environment in South Africa
- Fluency in written and conversational English plus at least one other South African language
- BSc or BEng in Computer Science, engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent working experience
Responsibilities
- Provide local insights by identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats relevant to the companys success in South Africa
- Understand and communicate the companys strategic and competitive position in South Africa
- Explore, identify and drive execution on strategic growth opportunities
- Escalate and drive solutions with product management for market specific product issues and gaps
- Partner with the analytics organisation to validate key findings with data
- Ensure the company family of apps is fully functional and well adapted for South Africa
- Follow product teams closely to identify new product and feature launch plans that may impact growth
- Identify critical usability issues and suggest optimisation plans to enhance user experience
- Design and oversee local execution of a continuous testing plan for important end to end flows
- Track progress of market specific product improvements
