About the role
Smart4 Energy is hiring on behalf of a UK based building services consultancy looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer with strong HVAC design experience. This is a permanent, fully remote role based in South Africa, giving you the chance to work on international projects while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
The role involves detailed mechanical design for HVAC systems across various building services projects, including high end residential developments, heritage refurbishments, educational facilities, and science and R&D environments. You will work from concept through to detailed design, producing calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. You will also get exposure to H2X, a building services design platform that supports modelling and design of HVAC systems.
If you have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, 3 to 5 years of building services mechanical design experience, and a reliable home office setup, we'd love to hear from you.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design within building services
- Detailed HVAC design experience gained within a building services consultancy
- Sound understanding of mechanical building services design principles and HVAC systems
- Interest in developing skills with H2X and other industry design tools
- Own laptop suitable for professional engineering design work
- Reliable, high speed internet connection and ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
- Strong communication, organisational and time management skills
- Experience with H2X (advantageous)
Responsibilities
- Undertake detailed mechanical design for HVAC systems across a range of building services projects
- Contribute to design and delivery of projects from concept through to detailed design
- Produce mechanical design calculations, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high quality design solutions
- Utilise industry design software including H2X for modelling and design of HVAC systems (heating, cooling and ventilation)
- Work on international projects while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with the wider team
