About the role
Assmang Limited is looking for a skilled Instrumentation Mechanician to join the team at Black Rock Mine Operations, about 80km northwest of Kuruman in the Northern Cape. This is a fixed term position where you will play a key role in keeping instrumentation equipment and systems available and reliable so that operations run smoothly.
You will work in an automated process environment where accuracy and safety matter. Day to day you will maintain, install, calibrate, program and repair instrumentation equipment, control gear and power supply units according to planned maintenance and breakdown work orders. You will also complete inspection checklists, report problems to supervisors, and make sure tools and equipment are cleaned and stored correctly.
The role also involves participating in safety meetings, complying with health and environmental standards, and contributing to team performance and improvement initiatives.

Requirements
- Grade 12
- Certificate: N2 or S2 or T1 Engineering Studies
- Trade Certificate: Instrumentation Mechanician
- Valid Driver's License Code B
- Dover B Symbol
- 3 years Mechanician Maintenance Operations experience in an Automated Process Environment (including apprenticeship)
Responsibilities
- Maintain, install, program and repair instrumentation equipment and power supply units and lines according to planned maintenance and breakdown work orders
- Calibrate, repair and maintain control gear, instrumentation and equipment
- Complete daily inspection checklists for tools, equipment and work areas
- Report problems and make recommendations to Supervisors
- Ensure equipment and tools are cleaned after use and stored in the storeroom according to labelling and BRMO standards
- Perform instructions as per work orders and job cards
- Comply with safety, health and environmental standards and report unsafe situations
- Participate in safety meetings and improvement initiatives
- Contribute to team performance and participate in section planning
