About the role
As a Registered Nurse in the high care ward, you will be responsible for delivering cost effective, safe and quality patient care that meets hospital standards and policies. You will assess, plan, execute and supervise nursing care for patients, ensuring their needs are met with compassion and professionalism.
Key duties include:
- Practising patient care according to the Scope of Practice and taking full responsibility for your actions
- Contributing to the holistic care of patients
- Attending handover reports at the start of each shift
- Communicating effectively with patients about their care
- Promoting patient health and wellbeing
- Auditing health records to ensure compliance
- Managing stock control, charging and crediting appropriately
- Maintaining good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors
Requirements
- Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
- Post basic ICU Diploma advantageous
- Matric or equivalent NQF 7 qualification
- Relevant qualification and 3 years or more experience in an ICU environment
- Advanced computer literacy
- Flexible in working hours and shifts
- Capacity to implement and maintain standards of health practice required by accredited bodies and health legislation
