About the role
Sasso Consulting is hiring IBM Db2 Specialists to administer, optimise, secure and support enterprise IBM Db2 database environments. You will play a key role in maintaining the performance, availability, security and reliability of business critical IT infrastructures. There are five positions available for this permanent, full time role based in Centurion, Gauteng.
What you will do:
- Install, configure, administer and maintain IBM Db2 databases.
- Monitor and optimise SQL queries, database performance and indexing.
- Manage database backups, recovery and disaster recovery procedures.
- Support high availability, HADR and database replication.
- Manage database security, user access and permissions.
- Troubleshoot production database incidents and performance issues.
- Perform database upgrades, patching and maintenance.
- Monitor database storage, capacity and resource utilisation.
- Automate database administration and monitoring activities.
- Maintain technical documentation and support ITIL processes.
Requirements
- Relevant IT, Computer Science or Information Systems degree or diploma.
- Minimum 5 years of enterprise database administration experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands on IBM Db2 administration experience.
- Strong IBM Db2 installation, configuration and production support skills.
- Advanced SQL performance tuning and optimisation experience.
- Experience with tablespaces, buffer pools, indexing and database storage.
- Practical backup, recovery, replication and high availability experience.
- Knowledge of Linux, UNIX, AIX or Windows environments.
- Experience with database security, monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Shell scripting, Python or database automation experience advantageous.
- IBM Db2 certifications advantageous.
- Non negotiable: Proven hands on IBM Db2 administration experience.
