About the role
The President Hotel is seeking a Hotel Duty Manager to take charge of the smooth running of all operational departments during their shift. This is a hands on leadership role where you will be the go to person on the floor, coordinating teams across Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance and Security.
You will spend your time staying visible in guest areas, anticipating needs before they become concerns, and stepping in to support teams during peak periods. From keeping check ins and reservations running smoothly to overseeing cashiering and billing accuracy, you will be at the centre of the guest experience every day. You will lead by example through the hotel values of Teamwork, Respect, Innovation, Accountability, Passion and Integrity, and coach staff to maintain consistent service standards across every shift.

Requirements
- A hospitality qualification diploma or degree
- 3 to 5 years of hotel operations experience with exposure to both Front Office and Food and Beverage in a 4 star or 5 star property
- Previous duty management experience in a 4 or 5 star hotel or luxury resort, with proven experience managing both Front Office and Food and Beverage operations
- Strong working knowledge of OPERA PMS or a similar property management system
- Sound understanding of Food and Beverage service operations
- Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and motivate teams across departments
- Sound judgement and the ability to stay calm, make decisions and resolve guest concerns promptly
- South African citizenship and a valid South African ID
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays
Responsibilities
- Act as Hotel Manager on Duty and oversee the smooth running of all operational departments throughout your shift
- Coordinate Front Office, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Kitchen, Maintenance, Security and other teams to resolve issues and maintain service
- Stay visible in guest areas, engage with guests and anticipate needs before they become concerns
- Keep check ins, check outs, reservations and guest services running smoothly while monitoring service across Food and Beverage outlets
- Take ownership of guest requests and complaints, coordinate practical solutions and follow up to ensure concerns are resolved
- Lead from the floor, support teams during peak periods and coach staff to maintain consistent service standards
- Monitor service delivery, ensure standard operating procedures are followed and communicate outstanding issues clearly at shift handover
- Oversee cashiering, billing and audit procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Uphold professional presentation and guest service standards, and lead by example through the hotel values
