About the role
As a Junior Applications Engineer, you will join a team focused on material handling solutions. This role is perfect for a recent graduate who wants to apply their Mechatronics knowledge in a practical, customer facing environment. You will support the design and application of solutions, interpret customer needs, and assist with technical quotations and equipment specifications.
Key duties include:
- Assist with the design, development, and application of material handling solutions.
- Interpret customer requirements, technical specifications, drawings, and equipment layouts.
- Support the selection and sizing of mechanical, electrical, and automation components.
- Prepare technical quotations, proposals, equipment specifications, and supporting documentation.
- Assist with engineering calculations, product configurations, and solution costing.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure suitable technical solutions.
- Provide technical support during project implementation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Develop an understanding of material handling systems, industrial equipment, automation, and control systems.
- Conduct research on products, technologies, and engineering solutions to support continuous improvement.
- Assist with site visits, customer consultations, and technical presentations when required.
Requirements
- National Diploma (NDip) or Degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
- Recently qualified graduate or candidate with limited relevant work experience.
- Sound understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and control systems.
- Basic knowledge of automation, PLCs, sensors, actuators, and industrial equipment will be advantageous.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Familiarity with CAD software will be an advantage.
- A valid driver's licence will be advantageous, depending on travel requirements.
