Overview

Absa is looking for a qualified Financial Adviser to join their Everyday Banking team in Vredendal, Western Cape. If you are FAIS accredited and have 2 to 3 years of experience in financial planning, this is your chance to provide professional financial advice, grow your own client book, and earn commission while helping clients plan for their future with a leading African bank.

About the role

As a Financial Adviser at Absa, you will guide clients through a full financial planning journey. You will start with a professional introduction and then conduct a comprehensive Financial Needs Analysis covering investments, life insurance and estate planning. Based on your analysis, you will recommend suitable Absa products and support clients through the application process.

Your day to day work will involve building strong relationships with clients and bank staff, sourcing leads through the Absa bancassurance structure and your own prospecting. You will present tailored recommendations, complete compliance documents like Client Advice Records and FICA paperwork, and review client portfolios at least once a year to make sure your advice stays relevant.

You will also manage your commission earnings, follow up on unpaid premiums and keep your client database tidy. Networking with branch managers and regional teams is key to growing your book and reciprocating leads. Ongoing training and personal development will keep your FAIS status and product knowledge up to date.

Important application note: You must apply through Absa's official careers site. Visit the application link provided to complete the process on the bank's own system.

Success Guide

Before you apply, make sure your NQF 5 FSB approved qualification and RE 5 certificate are clearly listed on your CV. Absa receives many applications for adviser roles, so show your track record in long term insurance and investments with real examples. Mention your experience with financial needs analysis and any client retention or sales results you are proud of. In an interview, be ready to walk through the six steps of financial planning and explain how you would address a client who is unsure about a product. You should also show that you understand FAIS compliance and keeping fit and proper status. Since the role involves building relationships with branch staff, highlight your networking skills and your ability to work with a team. Good luck, this is a great opening in the Western Cape.
