About the role
Our client, a leading international company, is recruiting a Financial Accountant to join their team in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town. This is a permanent, full time opportunity perfect for someone who has recently finished their articles or is in the process of completing them and wants to grow within a supportive finance team.
What you will be doing:
- Processing bank accounts on Pastel daily and sending updates
- Handling debtor and creditor processing as backup
- Reconciling bank accounts and credit card accounts on Pastel
- Loading internet banking payments and monitoring debit orders
- Reconciling intergroup and intercompany loan accounts and passing monthly interest
- Checking trial balances and ensuring no odd transactions
- Reviewing job costing on completed projects and preparing quarterly profitability reports
- Maintaining the fixed asset register and petty cash reconciliations
- Confirming new supplier bank accounts and monitoring UCR registers for exports
Requirements
- B.Comm degree or a related qualification
- Completed articles, or currently in the process of completing them
- A keen interest in Cost Accounting and IT Systems
Responsibilities
- Processing bank accounts on Pastel daily and sending email updates
- Providing backup for debtor and creditor processing in Pastel
- Reconciling bank accounts and credit card accounts on Pastel
- Loading internet banking payments
- Responsible for bank and credit card account entries and reconciliations
- Performing monthly trial balance checks and ensuring no odd transactions
- Reconciling intergroup loan accounts and passing monthly interest
- Providing breakdowns of balances such as pre payments and accrued expense or income
- Ensuring assets agree to the FAR and reviewing income statements
- Signing off monthly supplier reconciliations after checking overdue amounts
- Monitoring debit orders and ensuring valid contracts are in place
- Reconciling intercompany loan accounts
- Creating new accounts in Pastel when required
- Processing petty cash entries and monthly petty cash reconciliations
- Confirming all new supplier bank accounts local and foreign as per procedures
- Reviewing job costing on completed projects
- Preparing quarterly project profitability on closed projects for the year
- Running job costing and WIP calculations
- Maintaining the fixed asset register
- Checking supplier invoice processing for accuracy and updating accordingly
- Checking the project register weekly for updated invoices processed
- Monitoring that the UCR register for exports is kept up to date
