Overview

Rise Up Together is looking for experienced facilitators to adapt their Advocacy Guide and run a month long hybrid Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator for 25 non profit leaders from KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng. This consultancy runs from January to June 2027 and includes a six day residential workshop outside Johannesburg. If you have strong advocacy and training experience, this is a meaningful opportunity to help civil society leaders drive lasting change.

About the role

Rise Up Together (RUT) is inviting proposals from experienced consultants, ideally a team of two with a lead facilitator and a co facilitator, to adapt RUT's Advocacy Guide and facilitate the fourth South Africa Leadership and Advocacy Accelerator.

The Accelerator will bring together 25 non profit leaders from KwaZulu Natal and Gauteng who work across health, education, economic opportunity and climate change. The programme is a month long hybrid workshop that includes four 90 minute virtual sessions with three panel discussions, plus a six day residential workshop.

As the consultant, you will adapt RUT's advocacy curriculum to the South African political and social context, facilitate the full programme and support participants to develop advocacy proposals.

Key details:

  • Consultancy period: 15 January to 30 June 2027
  • Residential workshop: 12 to 17 April 2027, outside Johannesburg
  • Format: four virtual sessions and one six day residential workshop

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a consultant or facilitator in advocacy, leadership development or social justice work
  • Experience adapting and delivering training curricula for civil society audiences
  • Strong understanding of the South African political and social context
  • Ability to facilitate hybrid programmes that combine virtual sessions and residential workshops
  • Experience working with non profit leaders across sectors such as health, education, economic opportunity or climate change
  • Preference will be given to teams of two, made up of a lead facilitator and a co facilitator

Responsibilities

  • Adapt Rise Up Together's Advocacy Guide to suit the South African political and social context
  • Facilitate four 90 minute virtual sessions, including three panel discussions
  • Facilitate a six day residential workshop outside Johannesburg
  • Guide 25 non profit leaders through the month long Accelerator programme
  • Support participants to develop their own advocacy proposals
  • Work alongside a co facilitator if applying as a team of two

Success Guide

This is a consultancy, not a standard job, so your proposal needs to show how you would adapt Rise Up Together's Advocacy Guide for South African realities. If you have facilitation experience, especially with non profit leaders, highlight that clearly in your CV and proposal.

Applications close on 19 November 2026, and the work runs from January to June 2027, so plan your availability around those dates. A team of two with a lead facilitator and co facilitator is preferred, so if you have a trusted partner, consider applying together with clearly defined roles.
