About the role
As an experienced ICU Registered Nurse at Netcare Akasia Hospital, you will play a vital role in delivering high quality critical care to patients. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in the intensive care unit.
Your day to day work will include monitoring critically ill patients, administering medication and treatments, operating life support and monitoring equipment, and providing emotional support to patients and their families. You will also be responsible for accurate record keeping and collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse
- Relevant nursing qualification (Diploma or Degree in Nursing)
- Proven experience working in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Post basic qualification in Critical Care Nursing will be advantageous
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and patient focused approach
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
- Monitor patients vital signs and condition, and respond to changes appropriately
- Administer medications, treatments and intravenous therapy as prescribed
- Operate and maintain life support and monitoring equipment
- Collaborate with doctors and the multidisciplinary team on patient care plans
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Support and educate patients families regarding care and treatment
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
