Enrolled Nurse Recovery at Netcare St Augustine's Hospital
Netcare Group · Durban, KwaZulu Natal
Overview
Netcare St Augustine's Hospital in Durban is looking for an Enrolled Nurse to join their recovery room team. This is a great opportunity if you are a registered Enrolled Nurse wanting to work in a specialist recovery unit within one of South Africa's largest private hospital groups. You will care for patients waking up from surgery and play a key role in their immediate post operative safety and comfort. Full time position in a supportive hospital environment with room to grow your theatre and recovery nursing experience.
About the role
As an Enrolled Nurse in the Recovery unit at Netcare St Augustine's Hospital, you will be part of the team that cares for patients as they wake up from surgery. You will work closely with doctors and Registered Nurses to make sure each patient is stable, comfortable, and safe during the critical first part of their recovery.
Your daily work will involve monitoring vital signs, checking airways, managing pain and nausea, and watching for any complications after anaesthesia. You will also help prepare the recovery bay, keep equipment and emergency trolleys ready, and update patient records accurately throughout your shift.
The recovery room is fast paced and needs someone who stays calm, works well under pressure, and genuinely cares about patient comfort. You will form part of a close knit theatre team and report to the Unit Manager in Recovery.
Important: This is a full time position with Netcare Group. Make sure your CV clearly shows your Enrolled Nurse registration with SANC and any recovery, theatre, or post anaesthetic care experience you have.

Success Guide
This recovery room role at Netcare St Augustine's is a lovely next step if you are an Enrolled Nurse who wants to move away from general ward work into a more specialised theatre environment. Recovery nursing is hands on and you will see patients at their most vulnerable, so it is worth pointing out any shifts you have done in theatre, day surgery, or high care when you apply.
Before you send your CV, make sure your SANC registration is current and clearly listed, because hospitals will not consider you without it. Highlight any short courses in basic life support or post anaesthetic care, and mention any experience with monitoring equipment. In your interview, be ready to talk about how you handle a patient who is struggling to breathe or waking up confused after surgery.
Dress neatly, arrive early, and show that you are someone who stays calm when things move fast. Recovery units rely on nurses who watch closely and speak up quickly. If you can show that, you stand a strong chance. Good luck.
