About the role
As an Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary in the Intensive Care Unit at Netcare Unitas Hospital, you will play a vital role in supporting the nursing team to deliver compassionate, safe and effective care to critically ill patients.
What you can expect to do:
- Assist registered nurses and enrolled nurses with daily patient care activities.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure and oxygen levels.
- Help with patient hygiene, feeding, mobility and comfort.
- Prepare and maintain patient beds, equipment and ICU rooms.
- Follow infection control and safety protocols strictly.
- Communicate patient observations and concerns to the nursing team.
- Support patients and their families with empathy and respect.

Requirements
- Qualified Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary with current SANC registration.
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant nursing qualification from a recognised institution.
- Previous experience in an ICU or high care environment is advantageous.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Compassionate and patient focused attitude.
- Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with admitting, transferring and discharging patients in the ICU.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report changes to the registered nurse.
- Provide basic nursing care such as bathing, dressing, feeding and positioning patients.
- Ensure patient rooms and equipment are clean, sterile and ready for use.
- Assist with wound care and basic medical procedures under supervision.
- Keep accurate records of care provided and observations made.
- Respond to patient calls and requests promptly.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to support patient recovery.
