About the role
West Coast Personnel is looking for an experienced Electrician to join a well established manufacturing operation in Malmesbury, Western Cape. You will be responsible for electrical maintenance, fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance of production equipment within a feed milling facility.
This role reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and is crucial for ensuring safe, reliable and efficient plant operations while keeping equipment downtime to a minimum.
Key duties include:
- Inspecting, installing and testing electrical circuits, wiring systems, control panels and industrial electrical equipment
- Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise production downtime
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on factory equipment and electrical installations
- Repairing and maintaining fuse boxes, electrical circuits, wiring systems and related equipment
- Programming, troubleshooting and maintaining Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Conducting electrical inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and operational efficiency
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Reporting electrical faults, safety risks and corrective actions to the Maintenance Manager
- Supporting safe and uninterrupted production through effective fault finding and maintenance
This is a permanent full time position based on site in Malmesbury.
Requirements
- Relevant Electrical Trade Qualification (essential)
- 3 to 5 years of relevant electrical maintenance experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Practical experience in electrical fault finding, repairs and preventative maintenance
- Knowledge of PLC programming, troubleshooting and maintenance
- Understanding of industrial electrical systems, control panels and equipment
- Feed milling experience will be highly advantageous
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable transport
- Must be comfortable working at heights
- Willingness to work shifts and standby (essential)
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a maintenance team
