Overview
Helderberg Personnel is recruiting a Production Technician to join a space communication division in Stellenbosch Techno Park. You will work hands-on with flight hardware bound for orbit, focusing on assembly, integration, and testing of high rate RF and digital communication units. This is a permanent, full time role for someone with at least 3 years of RF and communication systems experience in electronics manufacturing. You will get to work on cutting edge satellite technology across the full product lifecycle.
About the role
Are you an experienced technician who wants to work hands-on with flight hardware that actually operates in orbit? This role sits within our client's space communication division, where you will focus on the assembly, integration and testing of high rate RF and digital communication units.
You will be responsible for hands on assembly and integration of RF and digital communication units, including fine pitch PCB assembly, wiring, cable harnesses and mechanical integration. You will conduct functional, environmental and RF performance testing using lab equipment such as spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators and power meters.
You will also perform component level troubleshooting on analogue, digital and RF circuits, and handle flight hardware strictly according to ESD, cleanliness and FOD control standards. Part of your role will involve assisting with qualification and acceptance test campaigns, including thermal cycling, vibration and thermal vacuum testing. You may also support test jig development and work instruction creation.

Success Guide
This is a niche opportunity in the space industry, so your application should highlight any hands on experience with RF testing, PCB assembly, or working in cleanroom or aerospace environments. If you have worked with spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, or done thermal vacuum testing, make that very clear in your CV. Even if you do not have space sector experience, show how your electronics manufacturing background prepares you to work with flight hardware. The role is based at Stellenbosch Techno Park, so be ready to work on site daily. Use the PNet link to apply, and if you have a valid work permit, mention it early in your application.
