Electrical and Lightning Protection Estimator
Professional Career Services · Gauteng
Overview
A specialist earthing, lightning and surge protection company in Gauteng is looking for an Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive tenders for electrical and lightning protection projects. You will work with engineering, procurement and clients to cost and submit tenders on firm deadlines. This is a permanent, full time role for someone with strong electrical estimating experience and a sharp eye for detail.
About the role
You will join a company that designs, supplies, installs and maintains earthing, lightning protection and surge protection systems. As an Estimator, you will take each enquiry from the first request through to final tender submission, making sure every estimate is accurate, competitive and well documented.
Your day to day work will include reviewing tender scopes, interpreting drawings, doing quantity take offs, sourcing supplier prices, and costing labour and equipment. You will also identify risks, note clarifications and exclusions, and hand over successful tenders to the project team. You will manage several estimates at once, so staying organised and meeting firm submission deadlines is key. You will work closely with engineering, procurement, operations, suppliers and clients to keep everyone aligned.

Success Guide
This role is all about accuracy and speed. Before you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows the types of electrical or lightning protection tenders you have worked on, the values involved, and the contracts you used such as NEC, FIDIC or JBCC. If you have experience with earthing and surge protection systems, highlight that early. A valid driver's licence is important because site visits are part of the job. In an interview, be ready to talk through how you manage several tenders at once and how you meet tight submission deadlines. Showing that you understand the technical side of lightning protection and can also handle the commercial side will set you apart.
