Simply HR Payroll is looking for an experienced Driver and Warehouse Assistant to join a busy logistics operation in Cornubia, Durban. You will handle deliveries and collections while supporting warehouse and stock control duties. If you have 3 to 5 years of delivery driving experience, a valid Code 10 licence with PDP, and you know Durban's roads well, this hands-on permanent role could be a great fit. Matric is essential and you must have a clear criminal record.
About the role
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being on the road and in the warehouse. You will join a busy logistics and distribution operation based in Cornubia, Durban, working as part of a team that keeps goods moving safely and on time.
What you will be doing- Driving company vehicles to deliver and collect goods, equipment and documents from customers, suppliers and branches
- Loading, offloading, counting, inspecting and securing stock before transport
- Completing daily vehicle inspections and reporting any mechanical or maintenance issues
- Keeping vehicles clean, roadworthy and well maintained
- Assisting with receiving, checking, packing and dispatching warehouse stock
- Picking and packing customer orders accurately
- Helping with regular stock counts, inventory control and stock records
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment
- Following all Occupational Health and Safety requirements
Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- Valid South African Code 10 Driver's Licence
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP or PrDP)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Delivery Driver in a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment
- Experience with stock handling, deliveries and warehouse operations
- Good geographical knowledge of Durban and surrounding areas
- Good understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures
- Physically fit to lift, move, load and offload stock
- Clear criminal record
- Reliable transport to and from work
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required
Responsibilities
- Drive company vehicles safely and in line with road traffic regulations
- Deliver and collect goods, equipment and documentation from customers, suppliers and company branches
- Load, offload, count, inspect and secure stock before transportation
- Make sure all deliveries and collections are documented and signed for
- Perform daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance or mechanical issues
- Keep company vehicles clean, roadworthy and properly maintained
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and suppliers
- Assist with receiving, checking, packing and dispatching warehouse stock
- Pick, pack and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Assist with regular stock counts and inventory control
- Handle and store goods correctly to prevent damage
- Maintain accurate stock records and supporting documentation
- Assist with general warehouse organisation and housekeeping
- Comply with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company procedures
- Support other operational activities as required by management
