About the role
Are you a natural leader with a head for logistics? A hospitality product distributor and supplier based in the Waterfall area of Hillcrest, Durban is hiring a Dispatch Supervisor to take charge of their daily dispatch operations.
In this hands on role, you will supervise the dispatch team, plan and monitor delivery schedules, allocate vehicles and drivers to routes, and use vehicle tracking systems to stay ahead of any delays. You will work closely with customers, drivers, warehouse staff, and other departments to keep everything moving smoothly.
You will also be responsible for ensuring all dispatch paperwork is accurate and complete, resolving delivery discrepancies and customer complaints, monitoring driver performance, and making sure health and safety standards are followed. Training, mentoring, and evaluating your team will be a key part of your day to day work.

Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) is required.
- A relevant qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Transport Management, or a related field would be advantageous.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in a dispatch or logistics environment.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience is essential.
- Strong knowledge of dispatch operations, fleet coordination, and route planning.
- Experience using dispatch, fleet management, or transport management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- A valid driver's licence would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the daily activities of the dispatch team.

- Liaise with customers, drivers, warehouse staff, and other departments regarding dispatch requirements.
- Ensure all dispatch documentation is accurate, complete, and processed correctly.
- Investigate and resolve delivery discrepancies, customer complaints, and operational issues.
- Monitor driver performance and ensure adherence to company policies and road safety regulations.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate dispatch personnel.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records, reports, and performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.
- Assist with workforce planning, leave management, and shift scheduling.
- Identify opportunities to improve dispatch processes and operational efficiency.
