About the role
This Deputy Principal: Operations role is about keeping the campus practical and functional behind the scenes so that teaching and student support can happen without disruption. You will work closely with the Principal and take charge of the operational side of the campus.
Day to day, you will oversee campus operations, coordinate timetables, deploy staff, manage facilities and maintenance, and make sure resources are used properly. You will also monitor operational performance, pick up risks early and put corrective measures in place, while checking that the campus stays compliant with legislation, policies, health and safety rules and quality standards.
Part of the role is financial: managing operational budgets, keeping an eye on expenditure and allocating resources. You will supervise administrative and operational staff, monitor their performance against agreed goals, and support student processes, campus events and stakeholder activities. Accurate operational records and regular reports to management are part of the package, along with driving ongoing improvements in service delivery and the student experience.

Success Guide
This is a campus leadership role, so the interview will likely probe how you handle the operational side of education: timetables, staff deployment, budgets, health and safety, and compliance. Before you apply, refresh your CV so it clearly shows the number of years you have managed people and processes, and any study you have done in operations, education or business management.
Think of one or two examples where you fixed an operational problem on a campus or in a similar environment, and be ready to talk about how you kept staff and budgets under control. It also helps to show that you understand the pressure points in a learning institution, from student support to facilities.
