Capitec is looking for a sharp Data Analyst II to join its Product Health team in Stellenbosch. About the role
Capitec's Product Health team sits within Business Improvement and Optimisation, supporting the bank's goal of building trust with clients. The team uses data, client feedback, operational signals and AI driven insights to spot where trust is breaking down and works with product teams to fix the root causes.
As a Data Analyst II, you will not be building typical dashboards. Instead, you will investigate complex problems across more than 60 products and 100 data assets. You will find root causes, size business opportunities and influence senior stakeholders to see fixes through to measurable results.
Your day to day work will include investigating client and product pain points, performing complex statistical analysis and modelling, and translating your findings into clear recommendations for product and business teams. You will also look for additional data sources when needed and work with product owners to implement solutions.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Analytical, Data, Technical, Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years experience in data analysis, with a significant portion in financial services or banking
- Experience leading data analysis projects and driving business impact through insights
- Advanced SQL skills including complex query writing, performance optimisation and large dataset management
- Python or R for data manipulation and visualisation, with libraries like pandas, numpy, matplotlib or seaborn
- Advanced Excel including macros and VBA
- Strong understanding of statistical methods and predictive analytics in financial data analysis
- Experience with visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
- Ability to communicate and present findings to non technical stakeholders
- Clear criminal and credit record
Responsibilities
- Investigate client and product pain points using data, client feedback, operational signals and AI driven insights
- Identify root causes of high volume client issues and size the business opportunity
- Develop evidence based business cases and work with product owners to determine remediation actions
- Locate and integrate additional data sources when existing sources are insufficient
- Perform complex data analysis and statistical modelling on large datasets
- Translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations for product and business teams
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders and product owners to drive remediation decisions
- Work with product teams across 60+ products to implement solutions
- Contribute to maintaining the product health score across 100+ data assets
- Focus primarily on ad hoc analysis rather than building repeatable dashboards
