Data & AI Enablement Graduate: Internal Audit at Nedbank
Nedbank · Sandton, Johannesburg, Gauteng
Overview
Nedbank is looking for a recent graduate to join their Group Internal Audit team as a Data and AI Enablement Graduate in Sandton, Johannesburg. This programme gives you real, hands on exposure to data analytics, automation, visualisation and generative AI while working alongside experienced audit and tech teams. If you are a South African citizen with an NQF Level 7 qualification and a passion for responsible AI and data, this is a strong foundation for a career in data science, AI enablement or intelligent automation.
About the role
This graduate programme sits within Nedbank's Group Internal Audit (GIA) team and is built for young graduates who want to use data and AI to improve how audits are done. You will join multidisciplinary teams and help build practical data and AI driven solutions that support audit execution, digital assurance and better decision making.
Your day to day work will involve sourcing and preparing data, running analysis to find trends and anomalies, and turning those insights into dashboards, reports and data stories that audit teams can actually use. You will also get to explore machine learning, generative AI and AI agents under proper guidance, while learning how to apply data governance, information security and responsible AI principles at every step.
You will work with Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI capabilities and other approved tools within Nedbank, and you will collaborate with audit teams, data owners and technology stakeholders to understand what they need and deliver solutions that work in the real world. Structured learning, mentoring and knowledge sharing form a big part of the programme.

Success Guide
This is a graduate programme, so Nedbank will be looking at your potential and your academic projects more than your work history. If you have built anything with Python or SQL, even a small personal project, bring that up in your application and be ready to talk about what you built and what you learned from it. The audit side might sound formal, but the role is really about using data and AI to make audit work smarter, so show that you are curious about responsible AI and how technology can solve real business problems. Make sure your CV clearly states that you are a South African citizen and that you have completed an NQF Level 7 qualification. Applications close on 26 November 2026, so do not leave it to the last minute. Use the Nedbank careers portal and keep your reference number handy.
