About the role
Netcare Group is looking for a CSSD Supervisor to join the team at Netcare Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital. This is a full time, on site position based in Cape Town. As the CSSD Supervisor you will be responsible for overseeing the Central Sterile Services Department and ensuring that all sterilisation processes meet the highest standards of safety and quality.
Your day to day work will involve supervising the sterilisation of surgical instruments, managing workflow in the department, and working closely with theatre and nursing staff to make sure equipment is always ready when needed. You will also help train and guide CSSD staff, monitor compliance with infection control policies, and keep accurate records of sterilisation cycles.

Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification
- Previous experience working in a CSSD or sterilisation environment
- Knowledge of sterilisation processes, infection control, and relevant health and safety standards
- Strong supervisory and team leadership skills
- Good communication and organisational abilities
- Ability to work under pressure in a hospital environment
- Willingness to work shifts as required by the department
Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily operations of the Central Sterile Services Department
- Ensure that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilised, and stored
- Monitor and maintain sterilisation equipment and report any faults
- Coordinate with theatre and ward staff to meet instrument requirements
- Train, guide, and support CSSD team members
- Ensure compliance with infection control and hospital policies
- Keep accurate records of sterilisation cycles and quality checks
- Manage stock levels of consumables and supplies in the department
