Overview
Vencorp Placements is looking for a CSSD Manager to lead the sterile services department at a theatre in Cape Town. If you are a Registered Nurse with theatre experience and a passion for infection control and staff management, this full time role offers a chance to run a vital hospital unit. You will train staff, manage stock and budgets, and work closely with doctors to keep surgical services running smoothly.
About the role
As the CSSD Manager, you will take charge of the sterile services department and make sure every instrument set and linen pack is packed and sterilised correctly for theatre and doctors rooms. You will train and support the CSSD Assistants so the team works at its best, and you will keep the department clean and compliant with infection control and SHEQ standards.
Day to day, you will manage the unit budget, look after equipment and stock, and handle the workload across a multidisciplinary team. You will also build strong relationships with doctors by marketing the unit and keeping communication open. This is a hands on leadership role for someone who can stay calm under pressure and pay close attention to detail.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current SANC registration
- Experience in operating theatre processes such as scrubbing, flooring or anaesthetic induction, or a qualification in decontamination services or other sterilisation procedures
- Previous experience managing a CSSD department is highly advantageous
- Previous staff management and conflict management experience required
- Excellent understanding of CSSD working procedures
- Ability to train CSSD Assistants to function optimally
- Flexibility with working hours
- Ability to work under pressure with strong attention to detail

- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with infection control and SHEQ policies

- Market the unit to doctors to build satisfactory working relationships
