About the role
As a CSSD Assistant at Netcare Akasia Hospital, you will play a vital role in ensuring that all medical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilised and ready for use. You will work in the Central Sterile Services Department, supporting nurses and doctors in delivering safe patient care.
Your day to day tasks will include receiving used instruments, cleaning them according to strict protocols, operating sterilising equipment and packing sterile items. You will also need to keep accurate records and follow infection control standards at all times.

Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- No previous experience required, training will be provided
- Ability to follow strict hygiene and safety procedures
- Good attention to detail and ability to work under pressure

Responsibilities
- Clean and decontaminate used medical instruments and equipment
- Operate autoclaves and other sterilising equipment
- Pack and prepare sterile instrument sets for surgery and wards
- Maintain accurate records of sterilisation cycles
- Follow infection control and safety protocols
- Assist with stock control of sterile supplies
- Work as part of a team to ensure timely turnaround of instruments
