Overview

Nedbank is looking for a Credit Risk Early Collections Manager to manage a dedicated portfolio in their Sandton office. You will work closely with clients and bankers to reduce impairment charges and rehabilitate accounts across a range of banking products. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong credit collections experience to step into a role that combines client service, risk management and portfolio strategy.

About the role

As the Manager for Credit Risk Early Collections at Nedbank, you will manage a portfolio of default accounts and work directly with clients and bankers to find workable repayment arrangements. This role is part of the Personal and Private Banking cluster, specifically within the Risk Collection area.

Your day to day will involve assessing credit risk across various products like current accounts, savings accounts, home loans, personal loans, term loans and asset based finance. You will need to act quickly on default accounts, either by securing repayment arrangements or handing them over to Legal collections.

You will also prepare portfolio review presentations, provide specialised credit risk advice to sales teams, and ensure that all processes stay compliant with bank policies and industry regulations. Building strong relationships with bankers and sharing your knowledge on credit processes will be key to your success.

This role does not have direct reports, so you will manage your own efficiency while contributing to team strategies and suggesting innovative ideas to improve business processes and customer experience.

Please note: The reference for this position is REQ 147858. You can contact the Nedbank Recruiting Team at +27 860 555 566 if you have questions.

Success Guide

Landing a Credit Risk role at a major bank like Nedbank is a great career move. To stand out, make sure your CV clearly shows your experience in collections and credit risk, especially any work with arrears or excess accounts. Highlight your understanding of different banking products like home loans, personal loans and asset finance. If you have completed any finance or credit related qualifications, definitely mention them, as NQF Level 6 is required.

In an interview, expect questions about how you handle difficult clients, your approach to negotiating repayment arrangements, and how you stay compliant with banking regulations. They may also ask about a time you improved a process or solved a complex collections issue. Be ready to give specific examples from your past roles.

This role is based in Sandton, so consider your commute if you do not live nearby. Good luck!
