About the role
Our client is looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join their finance team in Hammarsdale, Durban. You will take charge of the full credit control and debtors function for their business.
Day to day, you will follow up on outstanding accounts and make sure payments come in within agreed terms. You will speak to customers about balances and payment arrangements, resolve account queries, and chase up discrepancies. You will also monitor overdue debt and take action to keep it low, while keeping accurate debtor records up to date.
You will work closely with the internal finance team and communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. The role involves handling challenging conversations confidently and maintaining a professional approach under pressure. You will also provide regular reports and updates on outstanding debtors.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Credit Controller
- Matric and a relevant accounting qualification
- Experience working in an FMCG or Retail environment is essential
- Experience dealing with buying groups and large retailers, including claims, rebates and various allowances, is essential
- Proficient in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word
- Credit Management qualification would be advantageous
- Up to date knowledge of the National Credit Act and Consumer Protection Act would be advantageous
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central would be advantageous
