About the role
As a Cosmetic Frontshop Assistant at Dis-Chem Somerset Mall, you will be the friendly face helping customers with their beauty and skincare needs. You will work on the shop floor making sure products are well stocked, neatly displayed, and within their sell by dates. You will assist customers with product advice, process payments, handle returns, and keep the till area secure. You will also help with merchandising according to planograms and make sure promotions are clearly visible.
This is a permanent full time position. You must be willing to work retail hours, have reliable transport or live close to the store, and be a South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records. Only successful applicants will be contacted within two weeks of the closing date.
Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- Minimum of 0 to 6 months retail experience
- Minimum 1 year experience in a retail environment working with cosmetics
- Certification in Retail or a related field
- Computer literate in MS Office
- Customer oriented with strong attention to detail
- Good English communication skills, both spoken and written
- Knowledge of merchandising standards and FMCG industry
- Ability to work with planograms and understand product categories
- Basic arithmetic skills for handling cash and payments
- Emotional intelligence, accountability, problem solving, and trustworthiness
- Good time management
- Willing to work retail hours
- Reliable transport or reside close to Somerset Mall
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Third additional language is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Ensure full ranges of cosmetic products are always on the shelves and neatly presented
- Check stock for sell by dates and rotate as needed
- Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
- Process all purchases including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons accurately
- Handle cash flow responsibly and place cash in the drop safe
- Exchange merchandise and accept returns when authorized
- Verify all payments according to Dis-Chem procedures
- Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to customers
- Follow up on out of stock queries using the customer service list
- Store delivered or pulled stock in the correct space immediately
- Ensure all outgoing stock is scanned and paid for
- Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, security procedures, and health and safety rules
- Keep your till login code and password safe and change it regularly
