About the role
As the Contract Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the overall management of a dedicated customer contract in the logistics industry based in Boksburg. You will ensure that all contractual obligations, KPIs, and service commitments are consistently achieved while maintaining strong customer relationships.
Key areas of focus include:
- Contract Management: Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with customer requirements, monitor performance, and manage risks.
- Operations Management: Oversee day to day transport and logistics operations, including fleet utilisation, route planning, driver management, and continuous improvement.
- Customer Relationship Management: Act as the primary operational contact, conduct review meetings, address concerns, and identify opportunities for growth.
- Financial & Performance Management: Prepare budgets and forecasts, control costs, manage profitability, and report on KPIs.
- Employee Management: Lead, motivate, and develop staff, manage discipline, and ensure adherence to company standards.
- Reporting & Governance: Prepare reports, ensure audit readiness, and monitor health and safety compliance.
- QHSE: Promote a safety culture, lead incident investigations, and ensure legal requirements are met.

Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in transport management
- At least 2 years of experience in a managerial role
- Knowledge of transport methods, costs, and benefits
Responsibilities
- Manage the successful execution of a dedicated customer contract and ensure all KPIs and service commitments are achieved
- Develop and implement contract specific operational strategies aligned with customer needs
- Oversee daily transport and logistics operations, including fleet utilisation, route planning, and driver management
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular meetings and prompt resolution of escalations
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and management reports
- Drive cost control initiatives and monitor fuel usage, maintenance, staff, and variable costs
- Lead, motivate, and develop high performance staff across operational functions
- Ensure compliance with QHSE regulations and promote a safety culture
- Monitor vehicle uptime, breakdowns, and maintenance scheduling
- Oversee depot operations, load planning, route optimisation, and scheduling
