Smart4 Energy is hiring an experienced Construction Supervisor for a major industrial infrastructure project in Gauteng. You will lead site teams, coordinate contractors, and ensure work is delivered safely and to standard on power generation and heavy industrial builds. This is a fixed term, hands on role for someone who thrives on large scale construction sites and wants to be part of a high impact project.
About the role
Smart4 Energy is looking for an experienced, hands on Construction Supervisor to oversee daily site activities on a major industrial infrastructure project in Gauteng. You will work on power generation, mining infrastructure, mineral processing or heavy industrial construction, coordinating civil, mechanical and electrical work fronts.
What the role involves:
- Supervising day to day construction activities in the project yard and on site
- Coordinating multiple contractors and subcontractors to keep work flowing safely and efficiently
- Monitoring quality, progress and site productivity against project schedules
- Enforcing health, safety and environmental compliance across all site activities
- Reporting daily progress to the Project or Construction Manager and resolving site constraints

Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant construction site experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or foreman role
- Proven experience in industrial construction, preferably power generation, mining, processing plants or large scale mechanical and electrical installations
- Demonstrated ability to supervise multiple contractors and subcontractors, and coordinate multidisciplinary workforces
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, engineering specifications and method statements
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, quality control and site safety requirements
- Experience monitoring construction progress and preparing site reports
- Strong leadership, communication and problem solving abilities
- National Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or a recognised trade qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Millwright, Fitting, Boilermaking or a related field, supported by substantial supervisory experience
- Advantageous: SAMTRAC or NEBOSH, HIRA, Permit to Work systems, Working at Heights, LOTO, Incident Investigation, First Aid and Fire Fighting
Responsibilities
- Supervise day to day construction activities within the project yard and on site
- Coordinate civil, mechanical, electrical and associated construction activities
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project schedules
- Monitor site productivity, resource allocation and construction progress, and resolve site constraints or delays
- Directly supervise approximately 10 site personnel and coordinate larger contractor and subcontractor workforces
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity and workmanship, and manage interfaces between multiple trades
- Conduct daily coordination meetings, toolbox talks and site briefings
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, and ensure compliance with South African OHS legislation and project HSE procedures
- Oversee high risk activities including lifting operations, working at heights, electrical installations and confined space work where applicable
- Conduct routine site inspections, identify defects or non conformances, and maintain accurate daily site records and progress reports
- Report directly to the Project Manager or Construction Manager and escalate construction risks, delays and technical challenges
- Support inspections, testing, punch list closeout and project handover
