Overview
Network Finance is looking for an experienced Accountant with a solid background in commercial property to take ownership of the full accounting function for a property portfolio in Johannesburg East. You will handle management accounts, reconciliations, tenant financials, budgeting and reporting. If you have at least 5 years in accounting with 2 of those in property, this permanent role paying R740k to R840k a year could be your next step.
About the role
This role places you at the centre of the financial operations for a commercial property portfolio. You will be responsible for managing the day to day accounting function, making sure that financial records are accurate, compliant and delivered on time. The environment is property focused, so your ability to understand rental income, recoveries, tenant accounts and property related expenses will be put to good use every day.
You will work closely with property management teams, tenants and other stakeholders, which means strong communication and a proactive approach are just as important as your technical accounting skills. Expect a varied workload that includes monthly reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and cash flow monitoring. This is a permanent, full time position based in Johannesburg East.

Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience
- At least 2 years of experience in the property industry
- Previous experience in commercial property accounting is essential
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations and financial reporting
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, reporting and internal controls
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational and problem solving abilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function
Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day accounting function for commercial property operations
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Perform bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and tenant related financial transactions
- Monitor rental income, recoveries, expenses and outstanding balances
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate financial records and compliance with relevant accounting standards
- Liaise with property management teams, tenants and other stakeholders on financial matters
