About the role
TalenCo Recruitment Specialists is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join a steel division based in Durban. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the sales and procurement functions, overseeing supply chain pipeline management, and maintaining effective inventory control. You will review and approve customer quotations and supplier orders, manage key customer relationships, and resolve issues. Additionally, you will handle month end financial processes, analyse management accounts, and ensure compliance with corporate requirements. You will also manage debtors and creditors, oversee the annual budget process, and assist with developing sales, procurement, and new business strategies. Leading and developing the sales and procurement team will be a key part of your role.

Requirements
- Matric certificate
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Financial Management, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering at NQF Level 7
- 6 to 8 years of experience in Sales and/or Procurement
- More than 5 years of managerial experience
- Steel industry background preferred (automotive or non automotive)
- Sound understanding of procurement, pipeline management, and financial reporting
- Valid driver's licence
- Computer literate with strong MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Project Management experience advantageous
- Advanced Microsoft Office capability, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical and methodical approach
- Sound decision making ability and ability to lead by example
- High attention to detail and goal focused
- Customer focused with strong negotiation skills in key account management
- Experience with profit and loss analysis, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Experience in local and imported material procurement and pipeline management
- Advanced problem solving skills
- People management experience including mentoring and coaching
Responsibilities
- Manage the Sales and Procurement functions within the department
- Oversee supply chain pipeline management with effective inventory control
- Review and approve customer quotations and supplier or service provider orders in line with delegation of authority
- Maintain customer relationships and perform key account management duties
- Address and resolve key customer and supplier issues
- Manage the month end financial process including sales, stock, and expenses for management accounts
- Conduct management account analysis and reporting on sales, gross profit, and expenses
- Ensure compliance with corporate requirements including PACI, ABCP, and COCE
- Manage Debtors and Creditors to maintain effective working capital control
- Manage the department's annual budget process through to completion and approval
- Assist with the development and implementation of Sales, Procurement, and New Business strategies
- Manage Sales and Procurement staff including performance management, career development plans, mentoring, and coaching
