You will partner closely with Sales and Marketing, analysing net sales, trade spend, pricing, promotions and profitability. About the role
Join a leading multinational FMCG organisation as a Commercial Financial Analyst on a 6 month fixed term contract based in Midrand, Gauteng. This hands on commercial finance role sits within the Finance team and partners closely with Sales and Marketing to drive better business decisions through meaningful financial insights.
You will support commercial performance by analysing net sales, gross to net, customer profitability, trade spend and promotional activity. The role offers strong exposure to commercial decision making within a dynamic FMCG environment and would suit someone looking to broaden their experience in commercial finance.
Please note this is a 6 month contract opportunity based in Midrand with remuneration of approximately R50,000 CTC per month.
Requirements
- Relevant finance or accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent background)
- 3 to 6 years of relevant commercial finance or financial analysis experience
- FMCG or Retail finance exposure strongly preferred
- SAP experience is essential
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving ability
- Ability to work effectively with Sales and Marketing stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Commercial mindset with confidence to question results and provide recommendations
- BPC experience advantageous but not essential
Responsibilities
- Analyse Net Sales, Gross to Net, profitability and customer performance
- Prepare monthly financial results and provide clear commentary on business performance
- Support month end close and ensure accurate, timely reporting
- Perform detailed P&L and customer profitability analysis
- Evaluate promotions and commercial initiatives through ROI analysis
- Monitor and analyse trade spend to ensure it stays within approved guidelines
- Support Sales and Marketing with financial analysis and ad hoc commercial requests
- Review promotional activity and ensure promotional guidelines are followed
- Support the monthly S&OP process from a finance perspective
- Monitor pricing changes and ensure ad hoc commercial spend is correctly authorised
- Perform monthly and quarterly trade spend reconciliations
- Monitor open customer deductions and work with teams to resolve outstanding items
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities and make recommendations
- Support financial controls, audit requirements and compliance with trade spend policies
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Sales, Marketing and other functions
