A global investment advisory firm is looking for a Cloud Security Engineer to join their Cape Town team on a 12 month contract with the option to go permanent. You will secure cloud environments, CI/CD pipelines and containers while working with cutting edge tools like Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Datadog. In this role you will manage daily security operations, including handling support tickets, monitoring security tools, investigating incidents, responding to major incidents, operating runbooks and monitoring threat feeds. You will configure and operate core security tools such as EDR, SWG, UEBA, SEG, PAM and SSO, implement technical security standards and manage the vulnerability management process. You will embed security across cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code security scanning, containerisation practices (AKS) and tools like Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Datadog for code security and Cloud Security Posture Management. You will also offer technical security advice for projects, contribute to security designs and policies, ensure secure implementation of cloud services and research emerging threats. Supporting security awareness programs through staff training, phishing tests and intranet announcements is also part of the role.

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years in a Security Operations or Cloud Security Engineering role
- Strong technical expertise across security monitoring, detection, prevention and control systems
- Hands on cloud security experience including Infrastructure as Code tooling, securing CI/CD pipelines, container security and orchestration (AKS), and operationalising tools such as Defender for Cloud and Datadog for code security and CSPM
- Hands on experience with security incident response planning and ensuring its ongoing effectiveness
- Expertise in Azure, M365, OWASP Top 10, SANS Top 20 and the MITRE ATT&CK framework
- Microsoft or SANS certifications are desirable
- Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO 27001:2022, data handling best practices and expertise in global data protection laws such as GDPR, especially for the financial sector
- Ability to stay current with evolving threat actor Tactics, Techniques and Procedures and necessary mitigation mechanisms
- Passion for creating secure, scalable and resilient systems
- Strong problem solving skills and a desire to be part of a highly effective, service orientated cyber security function
- Commitment to ethics, compliance and urgency
Responsibilities

- Embed security across cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines using Infrastructure as Code security scanning, containerisation practices (AKS) and tools like Microsoft Defender for Cloud and Datadog for code security and Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM)
- Offer technical security advice for projects including control design, process review and SSDLC input
- Contribute to technical security designs and policies
- Ensure the secure implementation of cloud services
- Research emerging threats and vulnerabilities
- Support ongoing security awareness programs through staff training, running phishing tests and communicating new or emerging threats via intranet announcements
