About the role
Netcare Linmed Hospital is seeking a Clinical Nurse (R/N) who holds a Post Basic qualification in Intensive Care to work in their ICU unit on a 12 month contract. This role is ideal for a registered nurse who is passionate about critical care and wants to make a real difference in patients' lives.
In this position, you will be responsible for providing high quality nursing care to critically ill patients, monitoring their condition, administering medications and treatments, and working closely with doctors and other healthcare professionals. You will need to be calm under pressure, have strong clinical skills, and be able to communicate effectively with patients and their families.
You will also be expected to maintain accurate patient records, adhere to infection control protocols, and participate in continuous professional development activities. The role requires someone who is registered with the South African Nursing Council and has a valid Post Basic qualification in ICU.

Requirements
- Registered Nurse (R/N) with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
- Post Basic qualification in Intensive Care Nursing
- Experience in an ICU or high care environment
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work shifts, including nights and weekends
- Compassionate and patient focused approach
- Ability to work well in a team
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the ICU
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, vital signs and responses to treatment
- Administer medications, treatments and intravenous therapy as prescribed
- Operate and monitor medical equipment such as ventilators and infusion pumps
- Collaborate with doctors, specialists and other healthcare team members
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
- Communicate with patients' families and provide emotional support
- Participate in handover reports and team meetings
