Overview
A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy in Umhlanga, Durban is looking for a Civil Engineer with about 5 years of civil infrastructure design experience. You will work on roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater, water and sewer projects across South Africa and Africa, using AutoCAD Civil 3D. This is a permanent full-time role with medical aid and pension benefits, ideal for an engineer progressing towards ECSA registration.
About the role
Join a growing civil infrastructure team at a well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy based in Umhlanga, Durban. You will be responsible for the technical design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, from detailed design and drafting through to client liaison and project and site meetings. The role offers exposure to a variety of projects across South Africa and elsewhere in Africa, working alongside multidisciplinary teams in multiple offices.
Key duties:
- Undertake detailed civil engineering design and drafting
- Prepare designs for roads, bulk earthworks and piped infrastructure networks
- Ensure designs comply with relevant technical standards, design codes and internal quality management procedures
- Take responsibility for the technical aspects of allocated project work
- Participate in client liaison and project coordination
- Attend project and site meetings as required
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and multi-office project teams

Requirements
- BSc or BTech in Civil Engineering
- Approximately 5 or more years of relevant civil engineering design experience
- Demonstrated experience in the detailed design of roads, bulk earthworks, stormwater infrastructure, water networks and sewer networks
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Familiarity with current civil engineering design codes and construction series specifications
- Must be progressing towards professional registration with ECSA as a PrEng or PrTech Eng
- Valid driver's licence and own vehicle
- Working knowledge of the Infrastructure Design Automation Suite (iDAS) is advantageous
