Success Guide

This is a lovely chance to get your foot in the door at a government department without needing any work experience. Because it is a casual contract with limited hours, it can fit around part time studies or other commitments.

When you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows your Grade 12 certificate and any exposure you have to Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Even if you have only used these in school or at home, mention it. The team is looking for someone reliable who can juggle a few tasks and pay attention to detail, so use your cover letter to give a small example of a time you organised something or helped a group of people.

Prepare for a friendly interview where they may ask how you manage deadlines and how you would handle capturing data accurately. Show that you are eager to learn about HR and skills development, and you will stand out.
