Dis-Chem is looking for a Casual Cashier to join their Zevenwacht Mall store in Kuilsriver, Cape Town. About the role
As a Casual Cashier at Dis-Chem's Zevenwacht Mall store, you will be the friendly face at the till, making sure every customer has a smooth and pleasant shopping experience. You will process payments, handle cash and card transactions, and keep your till accurate and secure. This is a fixed term, part time role, so you will work retail hours as needed.
What you will be doing:
- Greet customers and assist them at the point of sale
- Process cash, card, voucher and coupon payments accurately
- Scan items and ensure everything is paid for
- Handle loyalty cards and rewards programmes
- Keep your till safe and balance your cash
- Report any suspicious behaviour to management
- Help with customer queries and exchanges

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- At least 6 months of experience as a cashier or in till operations
- Computer literate, especially MS Office
- Strong numerical skills
- Good command of English, both written and spoken
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing to work retail hours
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Reliable transport or live close to the store
- Presentable, honest and trustworthy
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to solve problems and manage time well
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service at the till
- Process all payments including cash, cards, vouchers and coupons
- Scan and ensure all items are paid for
- Handle loyalty cards and partner rewards programmes
- Keep cash secure and place it in the drop safe
- Report customer complaints and compliments to supervisors
- Stay aware of current promotions and sales
- Authorise voids and price changes with a supervisor
- Process exchanges and returns when authorised
- Keep your till password safe and change it regularly
- Report suspicious behaviour to management
- Handle daily takings confidentially
