Dis-Chem is building a talent pool of Casual Cashiers for their Woodlands store in Pretoria. If you have Matric and at least 6 months of till experience, this part time retail role is a great way to get your foot in the door at SA's leading health and wellness retailer. You will help customers at the point of sale and keep transactions accurate while delivering a world class shopping experience.
About the role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for Casual Cashiers to join their talent pool for the Woodlands store in Pretoria. This is a temporary, part time opportunity where you will support customer service at the point of sale and help create a world class shopping experience for every customer who walks through the doors.
You will record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system according to company policies, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and a strong focus on eliminating fraud risk. The role puts you right at the front line of the store, so a friendly attitude and sharp attention to detail go a long way.

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- A minimum of 6 months experience in cashier or till operations
- Computer literate, specifically in MS Office
- Sound numerical skills
- Strong command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- Reliable transport or reside close to the store
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Presentable, accurate and detail oriented
- Trustworthy, honest and accountable
- Good time management and problem solving skills
- Emotional intelligence and social awareness
- A third additional language is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Adhere to Dis-Chem customer service policies and procedures
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Meet the customer turnover hourly rate
- Stay aware of current sales and promotions
- Keep colleagues and customers safe from risk
- Carry out Dis-Chem's 5 star communication principles
- Take responsibility for cash flow
- Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by a supervisor
- Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorised
- Process all purchases and payments including cash, bank cards, vouchers and coupons
- Process loyalty cards including accelerator partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards and eBucks
- Place cash in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem SOPs
- Keep your code and password safe, restricted to you only and changed regularly
- Scan and process all outgoing stock, items and scripts
- Keep all money safe and secure inside the till
- Handle daily takings confidentially and only discuss with management
- Be alert and report suspicious behaviour to management
- Address customer queries about store merchandise
- Follow Dis-Chem security policies and procedures
