About the role
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for experienced Cashiers to join their South Coast store on a fixed term, part time basis. As a Cashier, you will be the face of the store at the point of sale, ensuring every customer enjoys a world class shopping experience while transactions are processed accurately and securely.
What you will do:
- Process customer purchases including cash, cards, vouchers and coupons
- Handle loyalty cards and partner reward programmes
- Maintain a balanced till and follow cash handling procedures
- Assist with customer queries, returns and exchanges
- Report any suspicious activity to management

Requirements
- Grade 12 or Matric certificate
- Minimum 6 months experience as a cashier or in till operations
- Computer literate in MS Office
- Strong numerical skills
- Good command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
- South African citizen with clear credit and criminal records
- Reliable transport or reside close to the store
- An additional language would be advantageous
Responsibilities
- Operate the cash register and process all payments accurately
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and place cash in the drop safe as per procedures
- Process loyalty cards and rewards from partner programmes
- Handle customer returns and exchanges when authorised
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the supervisor
- Stay aware of current sales and promotions
- Ensure the till password and code are kept secure and changed regularly
- Keep all money safe and handle daily takings confidentially
- Watch for and report suspicious behaviour to management
- Follow all security policies and procedures
- Assist customers with queries about store merchandise
- Uphold Dis-Chem's 5 star communication principles
