About the role
This is a contract Buyer position based in Durban, working within the international logistics sector. You will be placed with a South African client through Ad On Group SA, a company that connects local and international businesses with skilled talent across various industries.
The role centres on the full Procure to Pay process, from understanding internal customer needs through to purchase order creation, supplier management and invoice reconciliation. You will work closely with suppliers, internal teams and auditors to ensure smooth procurement operations.
Key duties include:
- Liaising with internal customers to understand requirements and provide progress updates
- Managing supplier and end user queries to ensure timely resolution
- Enforcing P2P financial controls and ensuring compliance with procurement policies
- Providing first line SAP MM support and user training
- Creating SAP purchase orders and sourcing new products and suppliers
- Monitoring purchase orders and expediting deliveries
- Running procurement control reports and maintaining documentation

Requirements
- Matric is essential
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Purchasing, Logistics or Business Management would be advantageous
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in buying, procurement or supply chain management
- Strong knowledge of SAP
- Practical experience creating and managing purchase orders
- Experience sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotations
- Knowledge of the full Procure to Pay process
- Experience managing supplier relationships, queries and performance
- Experience monitoring outstanding purchase orders and expediting deliveries
- Exposure to procurement compliance and audit requirements
- Strong administrative and record keeping skills
- SAP MM Super User experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge of BBBEE supplier sourcing would be advantageous
Responsibilities
- Liaise with internal customers to understand their procurement requirements and prioritise urgency
- Act as the main contact for supplier and end user queries
- Enforce Procure to Pay financial controls and ensure compliance with procurement policies and procedures
- Liaise with auditors to resolve findings and prevent repeat issues
- Provide first line SAP MM Super User support including training and troubleshooting
- Log, test and follow through on SAP system improvements
- Create SAP purchase orders and source new products and suppliers including BBBEE suppliers
- Monitor purchase orders, delivery dates and the timely delivery of goods and services
- Provide training and guidance to internal customers on procurement processes
- Run procurement control reports and maintain control documentation
- Review variation orders and recommend approvals
- Ensure effective use of the material master and correct inaccurate requisition descriptions
