About the role
Our client, a well known leader in retail and butchery, needs a Store Manager to run their standalone butchery operations in the Northern Cape. This is a full time, permanent role for someone who lives in the province and can start soon.
You will be responsible for the smooth running of the store from stock receiving to counter presentation. That means driving sales targets, managing costs, controlling shrinkage and waste, and making sure the store stays profitable. You will also keep health, safety, hygiene and cold chain standards in line with industry rules.
Leading the team is a big part of the job. You will recruit, train, mentor and schedule store and butchery staff. You will also handle customer queries, resolve issues quickly, and build good relationships in the community.
Stock management is key. You will oversee ordering, rotation and regular stock takes so that products are always available. The environment is physically demanding, and you will work in chillers and freezers as needed. Retail hours apply, including weekends and public holidays.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Store Manager or Butchery Manager in retail, FMCG or a meat market
- Must currently live in the Northern Cape
- Valid driver's licence and a reliable personal vehicle
- Clear credit history, a credit check will be done
- Clean criminal record
- Physically able and willing to work in cold environments such as chillers and freezers
- Available to start immediately
- Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills
- Ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Hands on and able to do physical work in the butchery environment
