About the role
As a Business Development Officer at Innovazi Consulting, you will be at the forefront of sourcing and closing commercial and asset finance transactions. You will proactively hunt for new business through networking, dealer relationships, site visits and referrals, while building long term partnerships with business owners, equipment suppliers and brokers.
Your days will involve assessing the commercial viability of deals, identifying potential credit risks, and working closely with Credit and Operations teams to ensure smooth submissions. You will manage each transaction from initial lead through to approval and payout, keeping momentum alive and resolving obstacles along the way. You will also maintain accurate CRM records, report on pipeline activity, and look for cross selling opportunities to grow client value.
This role is ideal for a self motivated, commercially minded individual who thrives on hitting targets and independently generating business. Experience in asset finance, equipment finance or commercial lending is key, and exposure to sectors like mining, construction, transport or agriculture will be highly regarded.

- Minimum 3 years experience in asset finance, equipment finance, commercial finance, banking or specialist lending
- Proven track record of originating, negotiating and closing transactions
- Demonstrable success in achieving sales targets over the past 2 to 3 years

- Ability to independently generate new business and build a personal pipeline
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel when required
- Knowledge of asset finance structures, rental agreements, deposits, repayment structures and security requirements
- Understanding of commercial lending and funding solutions
- Ability to interpret financial statements and management accounts
- Basic credit and risk assessment principles
- Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Office Suite
- Strong new business development, negotiation and closing skills
- Excellent relationship building and communication abilities
- Self motivated, resilient and results oriented
Responsibilities
- Proactively generate new business opportunities through networking, referrals, dealer relationships, site visits and direct client interaction
- Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of qualified prospects
- Identify funding opportunities across commercial and asset intensive sectors
- Develop long term partnerships with business owners, equipment dealers, brokers, auctioneers and industry stakeholders
- Assess commercial viability of proposed transactions and evaluate supporting financial information
- Recognise potential credit risks, affordability concerns and deal weaknesses before submission
- Manage transactions from initial lead through to approval and payout
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders, clients, suppliers and professional partners to fulfil compliance and documentation requirements
- Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline records, monitoring lead conversion, approvals, payouts and revenue
- Provide regular reporting on pipeline activity and performance

Success Guide
This role is perfect for someone who has already cut their teeth in asset or commercial finance and wants to take ownership of their own deal pipeline. When you apply, make sure your CV clearly shows the actual deals you originated and closed, with numbers if possible. The hiring team will be looking for evidence that you can bring in your own business, not just manage leads handed to you. In an interview, be ready to talk through a specific transaction you handled from start to finish, including how you assessed the risk and what you did to get it over the line. Highlight any experience with equipment finance, rentals or sectors like mining and transport. Also, since you will be on the road meeting clients and dealers, emphasise your network and willingness to travel. A valid driver's licence is a must, so have that ready.
