A leading organisation in Paarl is looking for a BI Accountant who can blend accounting knowledge with business intelligence. You will work with Power BI, SQL, Excel and SYSPRO to build reports and dashboards, support costing and improve systems. About the role
As a BI Accountant, you will join a dynamic Finance team where you will combine your accounting background with data analytics and systems expertise. Your day to day work will involve developing financial and operational reports using Power BI, SQL and Excel, while also supporting and administering the SYSPRO ERP system.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across Finance and Operations to understand reporting needs, design dashboards and ensure data integrity. Manufacturing costing will be a key focus, including maintaining costing models, analysing variances and supporting budgeting and forecasting. You will also help with month end reporting and continuous improvement projects.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys troubleshooting system issues, training users and finding ways to automate processes. You will be part of a team that values accuracy, innovation and cross functional collaboration.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, Information Systems, Business Intelligence or a related field.
- Relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, business intelligence or systems accounting.
- Strong experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Good working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SYSPRO ERP is highly advantageous.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment and with manufacturing costing, product costing, job costing and margin analysis is highly advantageous.
- Understanding of budgeting, forecasting, CAPEX and month end reporting processes.
- Ability to analyse complex financial and operational information.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to train and support system users.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
- A professional accounting qualification or progress towards one would be advantageous.
- Power BI certification or relevant business intelligence training would be advantageous.
- SYSPRO certification or formal ERP systems training would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting and business intelligence requirements.
- Develop, maintain and continuously improve BI reports, dashboards and financial reporting solutions using Power BI, SQL and Excel.
- Provide ongoing support and administration for the SYSPRO ERP platform.
- Support third party and customised applications linked to SYSPRO.
- Investigate and troubleshoot system related issues and coordinate resolutions with vendors.
- Participate in system upgrades, testing, configuration and implementation projects.
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity and governance of financial and operational data.
- Maintain master data integrity across SYSPRO and related reporting platforms.
- Design, maintain and improve manufacturing costing structures and product costing models.
- Maintain the accuracy of product costing and margin analysis reports.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and CAPEX costing processes.
- Analyse production, operational and financial data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support month end financial reporting processes.
- Assist with invoicing and job costing during high volume periods.
- Investigate costing variances and recommend corrective action.
- Identify opportunities to improve business processes through automation and enhanced reporting.
- Support Finance and Operations teams with reporting and system related queries.
- Participate in cross functional system and process improvement projects.
- Recommend practical improvements to reporting, controls and business processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Finance and Operations.
