Overview
Are you an Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems and large-scale solar PV projects? Prosperitas Personnel is looking for a technically strong, project-driven engineer to join a renewable energy team in Johannesburg. You will work across design, construction and commissioning on utility-scale solar and BESS installations, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and contractors in an EPC environment. This is a permanent, full-time role for someone who wants to grow in South Africa's fast-moving renewable energy sector.
About the role
This role is for an Electrical Engineer who enjoys being close to the technical detail of renewable energy projects while also keeping the bigger project picture in view. You will support BESS and large-scale solar PV projects from early design and planning through to construction and commissioning.
Day to day, you can expect to:
- Review electrical designs, technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Work with project managers, contractors, suppliers and other engineering disciplines to keep projects moving.
- Support the integration of battery storage systems with solar PV installations and related electrical infrastructure.
- Monitor technical deliverables to make sure they meet standards, specifications and safety requirements.
- Spend time on site assisting with installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting.
This is a permanent, full-time position based in Johannesburg, and you will need a valid degree in Electrical Engineering as well as demonstrable BESS project experience.
Requirements
- BEng, BSc or BTech Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Demonstrable experience working on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) projects.
- Previous involvement in large-scale solar PV projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, systems and technical specifications.
- Experience with project execution, engineering coordination and technical documentation.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and design documentation.
- Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
- Practical project experience within the renewable energy sector, preferably in an EPC environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide electrical engineering support throughout the project lifecycle, from design and planning to construction and commissioning.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of BESS and large-scale solar PV projects.
- Review electrical designs, technical drawings, specifications and engineering documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Support the integration of battery energy storage systems with solar PV installations and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Monitor technical project deliverables to ensure compliance with applicable standards, specifications and safety requirements.
