About the role
Our client, a leading name in manufacturing based in Germiston, is looking for a hands-on Assistant Financial Manager to step in as second-in-charge of its finance function. You will be the Financial Manager's right hand, running the day-to-day accounting operations and leading a small debtors and creditors team to make sure nothing leaves the business unchecked.
Key duties include:
- Leading the debtors and creditors team and owning the full control cycle
- Signing off on payment runs before they go for authorisation
- Monitoring cashbooks and bank balances, and feeding into cash-flow planning
- Handling journals, accruals, prepayments and provisions, and ensuring reconciliations balance
- Driving month-end and producing management accounts ready for review
- Ensuring SARS and statutory submissions are on time, every time
- Being the go-to contact for auditors at year-end
- Flagging control gaps or risks before they become problems
Requirements
- BCom in Finance or Accounting
- 10+ years of finance experience gained in a medium-to-large manufacturing business
- Supervisory experience
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Sage Pastel Evolution or a comparable system
- A sharp eye for detail and a reputation for meeting deadlines
- Integrity, discretion and a take-charge attitude
